Domestic Violence
Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one person to gain or maintain power and control over another intimate partner or family member. Abusive behavior can come in the forms of physical, emotional, verbal, and sexual. Abusers make it very difficult for victims to escape relationships. Sadly, many survivors suffer from abuse for decades. Abuse can come from intimate partners (heterosexual and homosexual), mothers, fathers, in-laws, siblings, adult children, etc.
