KAN-WIN requires all direct service volunteers to complete a 40 hour domestic violence training program.  KAN-WIN is an Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professionals (ICDVP) approved training site and offers an annual 40 hour DV training program.

 

This comprehensive training program includes the following topics:

Understanding Domestic Violence including Power and Control

•   

Effects of DV on Children and Child Abuse

•   

Elder Abuse

•   

Sexual Assault

•   

Crisis Intervention & Counseling

•   

Unique issues facing battered Immigrant Women

•   

Legal Overview: Illinois Domestic Violence Act and Violence Against Women’s Act

•   

Cultural Competency

•   

DV & Religion

•   

Safety Planning

 

Participants who wish to be an Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional can complete the required 40 hour training and 150 hour supervisory hours through KAN-WIN.  Participants must apply and pass a qualifying examination to receive certification through the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
