BOARDJi-Yeon Yuh, PresidentJi-Yeon Yuh is a 1.5 generation Korean American, and is an Assistant Professor of history at Northwestern University, where she teaches Asian American history and Asian diasporas. She is the author of Beyond the Shadow of Camptown: Korean Military Brides in America (New York University Press, 2002). She is also a co-founder of the Alliance of Scholars Concerned about Korea (www.asck.org), an organization advocating for peace on the Korean peninsula as it educates policy makers and the public, and serves as their Media Liaison and National Spokesperson. Angela Suh, President ElectAngela Suh is a first generation Korean American and a retired registered nurse. In addition to providing tireless leadership as a board member, she regularly answers the crisis hotline and supports KAN-WIN’s direct services as an advisor and trainer. Jane Kim, SecretaryJane Kim is a second generation Korean American who is a healthcare strategy consultant at Sg2. Currently, she is involved in building a children’s hospital in Africa, and serving as an advisor to Kappa Kappa Gamma Upsilon Chapter, Northwestern University. Jane is also the founder and chair of annual Julie Heidecke Memorial Scholarship Soccer Clinic. She received her Healthcare MBA from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University in May 2008. Kat Choi, Treasurer ElectKat Choi, a first generation Korean American, is the Associate Director of the Korean American Resource and Cultural Center (KRCC) where she helped develop a young women’s empowerment project aimed at developing leadership among immigrant Asian American youth. She serves on the Venture Investment Fund Panel at United Way of Metropolitan Chicago and the Grantmaking Committee at Crossroads Fund. She is a graduate of Seoul National University with a B.A in Linguistics and has a MBA with a focus on Nonprofit Management from the University of California, San Diego. Audrey J. SuhAudrey J. Suh is a second generation Korean American and the Director of Scientific Affairs at MedLogix Communications, LLC and adjunct instructor for the College of Pharmacy at UIC. She received a doctorate of pharmacy in 2001 from the College of Pharmacy at UIC and is a registered pharmacist in the state of Illinois. Her professional experience includes developing educational initiatives for healthcare professionals, medical publications, and scientific lectures. Eun Kyung KoEun Kyung Ko is a first generation Korean American and an Assistant Professor at National-Louis University, where she teaches pre-service elementary teachers. She evaluated the Brookfield Zoo science curriculum, developed curriculum for a high school transformation project, and developed a teacher’s guide for one experience box at the Field Museum. She worked with more than 200 Chicago Public School teachers and students through interviews and classroom observations. Becky BelcoreBecky Belcore is a Korean American adoptee and is a freelance grant writer for non-profit organizations. She served as the Executive Director of the Korean American Resource & Cultural Center (KRCC) for 3 years, and has been a labor organizer, an organizer for education reform, and a registered nurse. She also serves on the board of immigrant rights organizations: KRCC, National Korean American Service & Education Consortium and the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant & Refugee Rights. Becky is a founding member of Helping Adoptees Lead Together (HALT). Jiyeon ChoiJiyeon Choi, a first generation Korean American, is an attorney with BENNU Legal Services NFP. She has a wide variety of experience in immigration law, including family and employment-based immigration matters, as well as asylum cases. She also has represented victims of domestic violence in relation to their family and immigration law matters. Jiyeon received a B.A from Korea University in Seoul, Korea and a J.D from DePaul University College of Law. She is fluent in Korean, Mandarin Chinese and English. STAFF
