BOARD

Ji-Yeon Yuh, President

Ji-Yeon Yuh is Assistant Professor of history at Northwestern University, where she teaches Asian American history and Asian diasporas. She is the author of Beyond the Shadow of Camptown: Korean Military Brides in America (New York University Press, 2002). Professor Yuh is also a co-founder of the Alliance of Scholars Concerned about Korea (www.asck.org), an organization advocating for peace on the Korean peninsula as it educates policy makers and the public, and serves as their Media Liaison and National Spokesperson.

R.J. Kang, Secretary

R.J. Kang is a second generation Korean American minister ordained by the Presbyterian Church (USA). Prior to joining the board, she was an intern at KAN-WIN during the 1998 academic year, when she attended McCormick Theological Seminary. Ms. Kang is the mother of three active daughters and has always been an advocate for women and children. She has worked with teens for ten years as church leader and has led special sessions for teen girls to promote girls’ empowerment.

Audrey J. Suh, Treasurer

Audrey J. Suh is a Clinical Project Manager at MedLogix Communications, LLC. She received a doctorate of pharmacy in 2001 from the College of Pharmacy at UIC and is a registered pharmacist in the state of Illinois. Her professional experience includes developing educational initiatives using publications and live programs.

Audrey Cho

Audrey Cho is a second generation Korean American who began volunteering for KAN-WIN as ESL tutor and photographer in 2007. She joined the board in 2008. She is a professional photographer actively working in Chicago area.

Kat Choi

Kat Choi, first generation Korean American, is Associate Director of the Korean American Resource and Cultural Center (KRCC). Prior to joining KRCC, Ms. Choi worked as a research engineer, a facilitator for international conflict resolution working groups and a project evaluation specialist for digital divide projects in India and in United States. She serves on the Venture Investment Fund Panel at United Way of Metropolitan Chicago and the Grantmaking Committee at Crossroads Fund. She is a graduate of Seoul National University with a B.A in Linguistics and has a Masters Degree in Business Administration with a focus on Nonprofit Management from the University of California, San Diego.

Jane Kim

Jane Kim is a second generation Korean American who is currently a senior associate at Accretive Health, a healthcare consulting firm. She received her Healthcare MBA from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University in May 2008. Previously, Jane worked in Chicago as an investment banker. She currently serves on the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Alumni Association Advisory Board.

Angela Suh

Angela Suh is a first generation Korean American and retired registered nurse. In addition to her duties as a board member, she also regularly staffs the crisis hotline and provides support for direct services as an advisor and trainer.

Wonja Yook

Wonja Yook is a first generation Korean American. Professionally, she provides financial planning services as Senior Financial Advisor with Ameriprise Financial. She was president of the Korean American Professional Women’s Group in Chicago until 2007, and is currently the vice president of the Korean American Professional Financial Association and a member of the Korean American Women’s Association.
