40-Hour Domestic Violence Professional Services Training
To participate in KAN-WIN’s direct services as a volunteer, one is required to take the 40-hour domestic violence services training. This training is a wonderful opportunity to learn the dynamics of domestic violence, the client-centered service model, victim’s rights and options, and more. It will prepare you to work with KAN-WIN advocates in supporting victims of abuse through their journey toward freedom! Upon completing the training, volunteers must commit to providing 40 hours of service within the subsequent six months.
Comprehensive training topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
+ Understanding Domestic Violence including Power and Control
+ Effects of DV on Children
+ Child Abuse
+ Elder Abuse
+ Sexual Assault
+ Crisis Intervention; Counseling
+ Safety Planning
+ Unique Issues for Battered Immigrant Women
+ Legal Overview and Advocacy
+ Cultural Competency
+ DV & Religion, etc.
